Rock Group Kansas Stars in Free Jersey Show for July Fourth

Often the Fourth of July is an infamous holiday for people to get together, throw a party, or chill out at a barbeque with friends and family. But imagine if you could do all of these things with the luxury of being surrounded by live music, for free.

For the Delaware Valley, particularly the people of Philadelphia and New Jersey, this is always an option.

Philadelphia's 102.9 Classic Rock MGK radio station is infamous for throwing their annual "Let Freedom Rock Fest," a five hour long concert ,usually featuring at least one big-named classic rock artist or band.

This year, for the 7th Annual Celebration, the classic rock quintet Kansas, infamous for hits like "Dust in the Wind" and "Carry On My Wayward Son," were invited to play.

Along with Kansas, MGK's house band, the Toonz, will also be playing before the main act comes on. The Toonz are infamous for playing cover songs, and miraculously, no one can seem to tell that it isn't the actual artists' playing.

Covering hits from Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix and other artists who have either passed away or left their existing bands, the Toonz make your ears believe that these inspiring acts are resurrected for this Fourth of July celebration only.

Taking place in Pennsauken at Cooper River Park, this concert is indeed worth going to.

I attended last year, when rock group Foreigner headlined, and I was amazed at how great the set-up of the stage was in conformation to all the people that were there.

Right along the river, people have a beautiful view and some even choose to sit out on their boats and watch the show. Loads of people arrive each year, some even hours before the show begins, which is usually around 5 PM.

Less stricter then most outside vicinities, this event allows you to bring in coolers, food, drink, blankets, lawn chairs and of course, a large crowd of friends and family to hang out with.

Some people even bring large grills and water jugs to sell to the public, who usually feel those hunger pangs a few songs into the show.

You will come across lots of "hippies", free spirits and good people of all ages at this event, and overall the atmosphere is calm and relaxed.

For a free show, MGK definitely seems to pull it off every year, especially with the help and support of the Camden County Board of Freeholders.

So if your in the area and happen to have no other plans this Fourth of July, round up your loved ones and head to this fantastic festival.

Oh, and did I mention it's free?
