Weber Grill, in Chicago, is Serving it Up with Style
Weber Grill serves up steaks and poultry the way it should on a bbq grill.
They offer a nice lunch menu along with catering that contains some great options in BBQ heaven. They also offer a wide range of wines to compliment the meal choice you decide upon. they range from full bodied reds to nice light and crisp whites to please your palates. Weber Grill does have a full bar menu that will help make your dinning experience more fun. The carry a differing selection of beers and some well deserved specialty drinks that are sure to please such as the Smokey Joe Martini or the Orange-Ginger Mojito.
One of my favorite things that the Weber Grill offers is the children's menu. It offers simplicity in the form of a grilled hot dog to something a lot of children enjoy some BBQ boneless riblets. The children really get a kick out of watching the street outside for passers by or by watching the chefs cook over open flames that grow higher and entice the kids to just stare in amazement.
On the Occasion that I went in was a very busy friday night and there was a waiting line of 45 minutes. The wait went by very quickly and we were seated at a table between the bar and the grills. The heat from the open air kitchen was never a problem since the air was constantly being moved around and the smoke from the grills was displaced to the outdoors. We started with a cocktail and an appetizer to enjoy. The drinks came quickly and our server was a stunningly pleasing young girl who made us feel more at ease. The appetizer was the Weber Sampler and it was more than enough for two. The ribs were kind of dry but the steak skewers surely made up for the difference. The chicken was juicy and the BBQ shrimp had a fragrant smokey sense that left you wanting a full order.
We watched as the staff going to and fro and watched the plates of steaming food continue to play on our sense of smell and sight. the bubbling cheeses on the onion soup and the mounds of salads with plenty of dressing and colors to make any rainbow jealous. The salad that kept catching my eye was the Southwestern Turkey Salad. It was full of smoked turkey and southwestern vegetables that are a staple all over the nation. The burgers that I saw looked like the were made to feed King Kong. They were mounded with toppings and served with a large portion of french fries.
I made sure to order some nice crisp white wine with our meal and it come to our table only a few minutes before our plates of fresh steak and BBQ arrived. I had ordered the skirt steak plate for my partner on this outing and it looked quite tempting for me to sneak a taste or two from. The steak is a nice long piece that is served to your liking with plenty of sauteed onions and peppers. The side of garlic mashed potatoes was very creamy and hot but lacked the garlic taste it deserved. The steak was tender and juicy and was worth the wait and we were able to watch the chef cook our steak from our table.
For myself I ordered the BBQ combo plate which i decided was to be a combination of ribs and smoked sausage. The plate comes served with a side of cornbread that more than likely comes form a pre-made mix but was not as dry as you get when eating in the south. The "jim Beam" baked beans were tasty and if you try hard enough you can find them in a couple of grocery stores in the Chicago area. You just do not get enough of them to make your meal complete. The cloeslaw should be served cold and came lukewarm but did give a nice bite that seemed to have a taste of horseradish in it. The half rack ribs didn't look like a half rack but were cooked very well and had plenty of juicy goodness. The BBQ sauce was pleasing and had a nice hint of wood smoke in it that wasn't too overpowering. The only sad part of the plate was the smoked sausage. It just sat on the plate and even though it was grilled and hot it didn't have that much of a smoked sausage taste to it.
With the rising cost of beef and pork lately it is amazing that the prices (pricey as they are) are worth the money. It seems to be a little overpriced but you will find that the food is worth it and the show you see as they cook your food on real oversized BBQ grills is well worth all you see and do while in Chicago. Overall I would recommend Weber Grill to anyone who needs to appease the hunger gods when they call for steak. To the entire staff from the hostesses and waitresses to the line cooks and dishwashers; please keep up the good work and keep your customers as happy as i was and you will see me again and again for the best service in Chicago i have found to date.
