Lammar's BBQ Marshfield, Wisconsin
For those that are into the "Man Versus Food" challenges, Lammar's offers a 4 lb challenge. Four pounds of pork in a sweet BBQ sauce topped with bacon and cheese on a Kaiser bun with a pound of fries on the side. You have 44 minutes to eat all of it.
The process for cooking the meat is said to take a few days. They slow cook all of their meat with hickory wood for that authentic tasty BBQ flavor. Before it is slow cooked, they dry rub it with various spices that will make you addicted to the taste for life.
The location is not the best for a restaurant but I am sure in the future they will be relocating. For now they share a small part of a building that is attached to a local gas station on the South side of Marshfield. It is small, tables are kind of back to back and a little too close to each other and the ordering area gets tightly packed with people when there is a line or someone is picking up a to go or refilling their soda.
But beyond all of that the food is amazing for a casual quick lunch or a messy finger licking BBQ dinner. They are open Tuesday through Thursdays from 10:30am-8pm, Fridays 10:30am-10pm and Sundays from 11am-8pm. You can either eat your meal there or take it to go. Until they relocated in a larger location, I take the food to go.
Have fun reading the cool chalkboard menu behind the counter. Meaning you will be there for at least ten minutes trying to decide what to order, everything on the menu sounds way too good. I am a big fan of the Cheesy Cajun which is Andouille sausage, peppers, and onions with a sweet and sassy sauce served open faced and topped with lots of cheese sauce and shredded cheese. It is awesome to say the least. I have a hard time not ordering that every time I go here, but I want to try different items each time I stop.
Other items on the menu are The Ronald (BBQ's version of the Reuben), The Italian with pulled pork, Carolina sauce, onions, peppers and cheese on sourdough, The Cartwright with beef brisket, Hoss sauce, and onion tanglers on a cibatta roll, or the Smokehouse Club with brisket, ham, turkey, cheese, and bacon with Lammar's special club sauce. These are just a few of their amazing mouth watering sandwiches. All sandwiches come with homemade coleslaw and your choice of side from items such as garlic herb mashed potatoes, bbq beans, mac and cheese curds, or green beans with bacon yogurt (yummy).
If you want something a little lighter on the stomach, they offer a variety of wraps like the Philly wrap, the Sassy Pork wrap, veggie wrap, crispy chicken wrap and more. For your choice of wrap flavor you can get it on honey wheat or garlic herb.
For their dinner options they offer items from a ½ pound-1 pound of ribs with your choice of 10 different sauces from mild, sweet or spicy. You can order a ½ pound or brisket, pork, or smoked turkey or you can mix any of the options listed above together.
And for the kids' -- Don't worry; they have kid's meals also. Items like grilled cheese, quesadillas, ribs, mac and cheese curds, or small pork sandwiches will fill your children up and make them smile.
For pizza they offer all of the "regular" options like cheese, pepperoni, or sausage. But for something more original try the Phoenix which had brisket, pico de gallo, cheese, jalapenos and banana peppers or the Piglet with consists of sweet and sassy sauce, coleslaw, pulled pork, cheese and onions.
For those that are into the "Man Versus Food" challenges, Lammar's offers a 4 lb challenge. The prices at Lammar's range from $5 or more depending on what you order, but you get a lot of food for the price. Most people will definitely have 2 meals in one. Anyone that loves BBQ needs to try this place out. You will not be disappointed. I am sure in the future Marshfield will be seeing Lammar's move out of the gas station location and into their' own building.
