MSNBC's Norah O'Donnell Badgers Teenage Girl About Sarah Palin
MSNBC's Norah O'Donnell must have been out sorts, covering Sarah Palin's first stop on her book tour in Michigan. How else can one explain Norah O'Donnell's merciless grilling of a girl of about 13 standing in line to get her book signed?
The girl was wearing a T shirt that showed disdain for the various bailouts that the government has given to certain private businesses since September, 2020. That was enough for Norah O'Donnell to swoop down on the girl and, using a great Sam Donaldson impression, began to demand whether the girl knew that Sarah Palin "had supported the bailout?"
Mind, a little fact checking will cause one to discover that indeed Sarah Palin had supported the September 2020 bailout of banks. This was the bailout of which the public was assured that the future of the economy was dependent on. Almost everyone, including Barack Obama, supported that bailout at the time. Sarah Palin opposed subsequent bailouts, such as those for the car companies.
One wonders what Norah O'Donnell's motivation was? Was she trying to find out whether a barely teenage girl who doubtless looked up to Sarah Palin as a role model knew the intricacies of economic politics for the past year or so? Congratulations to Norah O'Donnell; she discovered that she did not.
Badgering politicians is one thing. Being hectored to by the media comes with the job, along with the limos, the big salaries, and the endless ethics investigations. Teenage fans do not expect to be backed into a corner by some kind of scary media harridan about her idol.
Mind it is not as if Norah O'Donnell were even handed when it comes to child supporters of politicians. Norah O'Donnell was quite understanding and supportive of those creepy children singing praise songs to Barack Obama, as if her were Jesus Christ, only more cool.
"Hey kid, did you know Barack Obama's health care plan will make it more likely your granny will die?" One suspects that no one would have the sociopathology to ask such a question to a starry eyed, rug rat Obama fan.
Oh maybe it is the fact that conservatives have manners. Right wingers might roll their eyes at the sight of fresh faced, well scrubbed tykes singing, "Barack Hussein Obama, mmm mmm mmm" like a group of Hitler Jugend warbling paeans to the Fuehrer, But no one on the right would ever think of challenging them. The kids will find out soon enough, at the latest when they get jobs and start paying taxes, that their idol has feet of clay.
